the meteorologists have declared it spring!

when the average temperature has been above 0℃ for a week, it’s spring. so – it’s spring! after today, I’m ready to agree. sunshine, blue skies, and the snow is disappearing.

another way to find that elusive inspiration: go to a place where you know there is interesting architecture and things to discover. in January I went to an area called Västra Hamnen (the western harbour) in Malmö. there was a housing exhibition in this area in 2001, and the most famous building there is the “Turning Torso“, designed by architect Santiago Calatrava.

this waterfall caught my eye.

trying a slower shutter speed to catch more of the movement in the water.

.

and a faster shutter speed to “freeze” the movement.

.

it’s always good to bring a friend on your photographic excursions!

don’t be afraid to try a different angle.

want/need to take some photographs, but don’t know what to shoot? try the kitchen. normally, in the kitchen, I (and perhaps you?) tend to see things as the function they represent: for example knife=cutting. try instead to look at the shapes and colours of your kitchen utensils – I’m sure you’ll find something interesting.

when you’ve exhausted the opportunities in the kitchen, you can move on to the washing machine!
